HOW THE PLUG-IN HYBRID SYSTEM WORKS

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) use a conventional petrol engine and an electric motor powered by a battery that can be recharged through the hybrid system or by connecting to an electricity supply. By selecting EV mode it can perform as a pure electric vehicle and when the battery gets depleted it combines petrol with renowned Lexus Hybrid technology.

POWERTRAIN MODES FOR EVERY DRIVING CONDITION

The NX 450h+ has been crafted for optimal flexibility for the driver, as they can change between four driving modes — EV Priority mode, Auto EV/HV mode, HV mode, and Battery-charging mode — by pressing the switch. In Auto EV/HV mode, if the accelerator is fully depressed, or if more power is required temporarily such as for sudden acceleration, the engine will start, enabling powerful HV acceleration.
