To establish the LC’s next-generation sports coupe credentials, engineers set out to shatter previous impressions of hybrid performance with the development of an advanced Multi Stage hybrid system that generates exhilarating and emotional driving performance. 

Integrating a 3.5-litre V6 engine with a 650v Hybrid system, acceleration is provided from start-up similar to that of a V8 hybrid, delivered with the direct feeling unique to Lexus hybrid vehicles. 

This outstanding acceleration is enhanced by the new Multi Stage Shift Device, coupling a traditional 4-speed transmission with Lexus’ Continuously Variable Transmission for a rhythmic shift feel.

LC 500 5.0L V8 POWER

The naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 engine generates a dynamic feeling of limitless acceleration and powerful output for luxury sports car driving.

Like the LFA Supercar, engine sound is routed directly to the cabin through the firewall where Active Noise Control cancels out any undesirable wavelengths similar to noise cancelling headphones, leaving behind an appropriately balanced soundtrack.

An aural experience in its own right, the vibrant engine sounds of the LC 500’s 5.0L V8 are enhanced by special sound-control valves in the exhaust that activate during start-up, at stand-still and at full throttle to release a more explosive exhaust note.

CUSTOMISE YOUR DRIVE MODE

The LC is fitted with Drive Mode Select featuring five modes plus a driver-customisable selection to blend elements of each, unique to your preferences.

Activated by the control on the meter hood; Select ECO and engine output, throttle opening and air conditioning are automatically controlled to prioritise fuel-efficient driving.

NORMAL mode delivers a balanced response suitable for suburban and freeway driving with a true sense of acceleration and smoothness.

COMFORT mode alters the response of the Adaptive Variable Suspension for maximum absorption for rougher roads.

Then, as the name suggests, SPORT S drive mode offers enhanced engine and transmission response, while SPORT S+ goes further to recalibrate suspension and steering, enhancing handling and allowing you to go closer to the performance limit.

TORSEN DIFFERENTIAL

TORSEN DIFFERENTIAL

Rear grip and traction has been significantly improved through the inclusion of a TORSEN®15 Limited Slip Differential (LSD), fitted as standard to the LC 500 and part of the Enhancement Pack for the LC 500h.

The LSD contributes to straight-line handling stability and high-traction during cornering by optimising traction between the rear wheels, helping to transfer power to the wheels that have the best grip.

VARIABLE SUSPENSION

VARIABLE SUSPENSION

Newly calibrated for enhanced ride comfort, the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) can vary the coupe’s shock absorber response through 650 different levels for smoother, more precise control. 

When driving on rough road surfaces, AVS helps maintain a comfortable ride by softening shock absorber response, while during cornering it helps maintain handling stability through a flatter ride by firming suspension response.

In SPORT S+ mode AVS offers a firmer level of control for dynamic handling performance.

DYNAMIC REAR STEERING

DYNAMIC REAR STEERING

Fitted exclusively to models with the optional Enhancement Pack, Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) actively adjusts the steering angle of the rear wheels in order to achieve optimal vehicle handling, stability and a high measure of responsiveness in line with what the driver expects.

At low speed, DRS enhances manoeuvrability and reduces steering effort by reducing the turning circle.

At medium speeds steering feels more responsive and intuitive while at high speeds vehicle posture is increasingly stable, providing confidence and peace of mind.
